Forests are among the world's most valuable natural resources, providing critical ecosystem services that support biodiversity, regulate water cycles, conserve soils, sustain livelihoods, and mitigate climate change. They act as major carbon sinks by absorbing and storing atmospheric carbon dioxide, making them indispensable in global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve climate resilience.
However, forests continue to face increasing pressure from deforestation, land degradation, unsustainable harvesting, wildfires, agricultural expansion, urbanization, and the growing impacts of climate change. These pressures threaten ecosystem health, biodiversity, and the livelihoods of millions of people who depend on forests for food, energy, income, and cultural values. Sustainable forest management has become a key strategy for addressing climate change while supporting economic development and environmental conservation. It promotes responsible management of forest resources to meet present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to benefit from healthy forest ecosystems. This two-week training programme is designed to strengthen participants' knowledge and practical skills in climate change adaptation and mitigation through sustainable forestry management. The programme explores policy, governance, ecosystem restoration, community participation, carbon financing, and innovative approaches to building resilient forest landscapes.

The case work was the best part. Our cohort spent two days on a real procurement scenario and the recommendations we built are now informing live policy.WK Wanjiku KaranjaProgramme Manager · Development NGO
I'd done other executive programs before, but this one stuck. The post-program advisor check-in 30 days later genuinely held me accountable to apply what I'd learned.SM Samuel TettehESG Lead · Listed Corporate
