Gender mainstreaming in development
Gender mainstreaming is the process of ensuring that women and men have equal access and control over resources, development benefits and decision-making, at all stages of the development process. The goal of this course is to provide knowledge on concepts, tools, and methods to facilitate stakeholders on how to routinely integrate the interests of women as well as men at every stage of developmental interventions from planning to implementation and evaluation.

- To enable the participants to understand how the interdependent or complementary roles of men and women are recognized.
- For participants to learn that gender issues are not confined to one sector but must be addressed across the board.
- Participants to recognize that gender issues are not confined to the population of programme ‘beneficiaries’ but must be addressed also at policy and institutional delivery systems levels.
- Participants learn the tools to address gender mainstreaming at every stage in the development intervention beginning with identification and formulation, and continuing through implementation, monitoring, and evaluation phases.
